AFT Connecticut & Eastern Connecticut Health Network Co-Sponsor a Peanut Butter & Jelly Drive to Benefit Local Food Pantries
MANCHESTER, Conn. – May 2021 – AFT Connecticut and Eastern Connecticut Health Network (ECHN) combined efforts to co-sponsor a Peanut Butter and Jelly food drive to benefit kids and families in eastern Connecticut. This initiative launched on National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day and has been a month-long drive across all ECHN facilities and with partners in our community.
The celebration moment and brief remarks will be held at 2pm in the Main Lobby of Manchester Memorial Hospital, 71 Haynes St., Manchester, CT on Thursday, May 13. Local elected officials are expected to be in attendance.
“In partnership with AFT Connecticut and in recognition of National Hospital Week, ECHN’s hospitals proudly present these contributions to benefit the Hockanum Valley and MACC food pantries,” said Deborah Weymouth, Chief Executive Office for ECHN. “Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches are a fun, non-perishable protein option that are well-liked by many. We developed this team building effort to have some fun while further helping people in our community, and we are so pleased with the results.”
In addition to the 60 ECHN departments who contributed to the food drive, Highland Park Market also generously gave hundreds of jars of peanut butter to join in the activity! It’s amazing to see what happens when we come together!
